This 1968 Rolex GMT possesses all the things we love about the Rolex GMT 1675. From MK I "Long E" dial to the perfectly faded "Fuschia" Pepsi insert. This ref. 1675 would make a great daily driver for the person that's always on the go. 

The Rolex GMT is the jet-setting icon of the Rolex sports watch family. Like the Rolex Submariner, the Rolex GMT is sophisticated, rugged, and versatile. In 1954 Pan Am started using the newly designed Boeing 707 which allowed Pan Am to fly transcontinentally and is said to have started the commercially available jet age. In the same year, Rolex received a request from Pan Am to create a technical pilots watch that could indicate two time zones simultaneously that could be issued by the airline to their crews on long-haul transcontinental international flights. The original Rolex GMT-Master has a fourth 24-hour hand directly displaying the same time zone as the standard 12-hour hand but on a 24-hour scale. This GMT hand enabled the crews to set the watch to GMT or another time zone, and, using the rotatable 24-hour scale bezel, set to the correct offset thus displaying a second-time zone on the 24-hour scale.

CASE & BRACELET

 The excellent case has been gently polished and the past and retains thick lugs and crown guards that are symmetrical throughout. The original and rare "Fuchsia" bezel insert is in great overall vintage condition with some light wear expected for the watch's age and featuring a handsome "ghost" fade in the blue portion with the fuchsia portion remaining bright in color. The later Rolex 78360 Oyster bracelet with 580 end pieces has been previously polished and retains 12 links that show light stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/2-inch wrist.

DIAL & HANDS

The matte black MK I "Long E" dial is in excellent condition, with no scratches or signs of age on the dial itself, there is minimal chipping of the white printing of the minute track which is very common in matte dials of this era. The tritium lume plots remain bright with a subtle ivory tone and exhibit no degradation under U.V. light inspection. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly, under U.V. light inspection the minute hand shows very subtle cracking and is stable, the other hands exhibit no degradation. The metallic date wheel is original with closed 6's and 9's.
